New Improvements have Made the Portneuf River a New, Warm Weather Attraction to Pocatello!
The history of the Portneuf River is as old as Pocatello itself. We are thrilled to share the newly expanded river play opportunities in 2021 with improved access, maps, information and community support and involvement. Make sure and download the maps to your smartphone and read the information before you go. Always wear a life jacket, never go alone, and make sure you know how to swim without exception.

Please bring your own floating device. The river is suitable for one or two person innertubes, kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddle boards. Please respect wildlife and other floaters. NO motorized devices and NO glass containers allowed on the river. Idaho State law requires anyone under the age of 14 to wear a life jacket while in or on the river.
